Reset your receiver

Resetting your receiver will fix the majority of issues you may be experiencing. To do this, press and hold the Power Button on the front panel of your satellite receiver for 10 seconds. Your receiver will then reboot. If not, try the additional tips below.
  • Check for anything that may be blocking your satellite signal (tree branches, snow, etc).
  • Make sure the receiver is continuously connected to a working phone line.
  • Watch for the remote control “low battery indicator” on your TV screen and be sure to replace the batteries in your remote control as necessary.
  • Check that your TV is set to channel 3 or 4. If your remote is identified by a blue number 2, also try channel 60 or 73.

How big will my dish be? What will it look like?

Your new Dish 500 system will include an antenna that is approx. 20 inches in diameter. For a picture of the dish, click here.
If you are interested in HD (High Definition) television channels you will receive a slightly larger dish. Click here to view.

What direction does the dish point?

The direction in which your dish will point depends on your location. In Pennsylvania where See World Satellites is located, we aim our dishes towards the Southwest. Every DISH receiver has a "Point Dish" screen which will calculate the correct Azimuth and Elevation.

I have a lot of trees on my property, can I still get Dish?

Even though you have alot of trees on your property you still might be able to get DISH. One thing to remember though, the signal coming from our satellites will NOT come through trees. In Pennsylvania, you need an unobstructed view of the Southwest sky. The only true way to know if you can get a signal is to have a Technician come to your home.

Can I install the DISH system myself?

All of our new promotions include a FREE professional installation and most promotions require the system to be professional installed to enable your warranty. Therefore, we recommend that you seriously consider having your new system or second dish professionally installed to ensure that all aspects of the job are done correctly. If you would like to schedule a professional installation, please call See World at 1-800-435-2808.

Will I receive a program guide from DISH?

You may access the channel line-up through DISH's online channel guide. Please click here to access that page.

DISH also offers the DISH Entertainment Magazine. This is a monthly program guide that provides the listings for most channels as well as a channel line-up. There are several additional features to this guide. You may contact the Customer Service Center to order this. This subscription is $3.95 per month or $39.99 per year.

Finally, DISH offers DISH Flicks. This is also a monthly magazine, which is dedicated to only movies shown on DISH Network. There are also additional features in this guide. This subscription is $1.95 per month or $19.99 per year. You may also order this through the Customer Service Center.

Can I block adult content?

The Adult Guard feature gives you the capability to hide the Adult channels (Playboy, The Hot Zone, EClip, TeN, and Extasy) from your Electronic Program Guide or lock them out. This prevents any children in the household from viewing the programming or accessing the program information.

You can restrict your receiver from viewing programming that contains:
1.) Certain ratings (PG 13, R, NC-17, etc.)
2.) Certain expanded ratings (violence, nudity, etc.)
3.) Certain channels (HBO, ESPN, etc.)

Once the locks feature is activated, the system will require a 4-digit PIN number (that you create) to access any program that contains the ratings that you have locked out.

For instructions regarding the Parental Lock feature, please click here. To learn more about the locks feature, please refer to your User's Guide or click here to view the online User's Guides.

Do I need a credit card to subscribe to DISH?

Most of the promotions require a credit card for contractual purposes, as Dish supplies the equipment at little or no cost. DISH does require that the name on the credit card and the name on the DISH account match to prevent fraud. When the account is set up, the credit card number is linked to the account in a secure location that is unseen by the Customer Service Representatives. If the contract is defaulted, the cancellation fee of the promotion (if applicable) is charged to that card. You are not required to make your monthly payments with a credit card.

We hope this helps explain why we ask for a credit card. If you are unable to provide this information, we encourage you to check out some of our other promotions offered.

How can I upgrade to HDTV (High Definition)?

In order to receive HDTV broadcasting you will need a HD receiver. The Solo ViP 211k, Duo ViP 222k, Solo DVR ViP 612, Duo DVR ViP 722, and Hopper & Joey receivers are DISH's latest receivers that deliver DISH standard and high definition satellite programming and receives off-air analog and digital broadcast, where available.
